125th Celebration a Wonderful Success!

Current students, staff and parents were graced by the presence of past pupils and staff, local community members, and news media who attended the 125th Anniversary of Mount Alford State School on Friday the 30th of August.

Welcomed in attendance were interstate visitors who travelled to Mount Alford just for the commemorative day. P&C played host to a morning tea following the opening of the much anticipated Time Capsule. Staff Angela Doyle, Krystie Smoothy and Samantha Burridge enjoyed the moment where 25 year old letters, port, magazines, and newspapers were unveiled.

A highlight for the current Mount Alford students was hearing about what life was like for a year 5 student in 1988. The letter revealed some funny jokes the students played on each other and general rascal business! A letter from past principal Ross Linegar was also shared revealing some highlights of his leadership and schooling in the 1980s.

At the evening event, 170 guests were treated to a beautiful 2 course meal, live music from Living in Harmony and The Noisy Minors, and an extensive photo wall carrying memories from the past 125 years.

Mount Alford State School would like to thank all of those who attended the morning tea and the evening event. We shared many laughs and memories with each of you. A huge thank you to the 125th planning committee who dedicated many personal hours to organising both events. We look forward to another 25 years of state education at Mount Alford State School.

Photos of both events will be on the Gallery page of the website as they become available. Enjoy!
